What is a Dental Appliance?

To maintain excellent oral health, we need to go beyond simply brushing and flossing. For those of us who grind or clench our teeth, snore or play sports, dental appliances can help preserve and protect our oral structures, and our overall physical health.

At Cloverdale Dental Group, we offer dental appliances – including mouth guards and sleep apnea appliances to help improve and protect the health of your oral cavity.

Snoring & Sleep Apnea Appliances

Sleep disorders not only disrupt your sleep but have a negative impact on your overall health and wellbeing.

In patients who snore, their relaxed throat tissues cause the airway to become blocked, producing the sound we know as snoring as oxygen is forced through. For patients with sleep apnea, these over-relaxed throat tissues obstruct the airway, prompting their brain to awaken them so they can breathe.

At Cloverdale Dental Group, we offer custom-fitted oral appliances, which keep the airway open by shifting the lower jaw and tongue muscles. This helps improve airflow and keeps you from waking up throughout the night - ensuring your breathing is improved, and that you get a restful night's sleep.

Custom-Fitted Mouth Guards

The custom-made mouth guards we offer will fit over your teeth to protect them from damage.

Sports Guards

If you happen to take a hit to the mouth while you play sports, a mouth guard will protect your smile by acting as a barrier between your teeth and the soft tissue of your mouth.

Night Guards

Do you grind your teeth as you sleep? A mouth guard will protect your teeth from injury or damage. If jaw clenching is your issue, a mouth guard can help prevent you from clenching and alleviate associated painful symptoms.
